Softball Recap: Caruthers Wins Going Away Against Madera South

Caruthers never got on the board in their matchup on Tuesday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Madera South on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by an 18-7 margin over the Stallions. This was payback for the Blue Raiders, who suffered an 8-7 loss the last time these two teams met.

Caruthers got a massive performance out of Makena Salumbides, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs, one double, and one RBI. Those four runs gave Salumbides a new career-high. Juliana Lemus was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Caruthers kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 21 hits. They are 5-2 when they post 11 or more hits.

Caruthers' victory bumped their record up to 7-8. As for Madera South, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost 12 of their last 14 contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-16 record this season.

Caruthers wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 21-4 defeat against Chowchilla on the 22nd. As for Madera South, they will square off against Fresno at 3:30 p.m. on the 23rd. The Warriors have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.62 runs per game on average), something the Stallions will no doubt try to take advantage of.
