Basketball Recap: East Gaston Takes a Loss

East Gaston won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Wednesday. They were beaten by the South Point Red Raiders 50-5. The Warriors were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 37-3.

Lilly Rymer was East Gaston's leading scorer, having posted three points.

South Point can attribute much of their success to Jossilyn Wallace, who went 6 for 10 on her way to 13 points and three steals. The dominant performance gave Wallace a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Amya Graham, who posted eight points and three steals.

East Gaston has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-7 record this season. As for South Point, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season.

East Gaston and Clover will round out the year against one another at at 6:30 p.m. on December 27th. South Point will take on Ashbrook in a holiday battle at at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. South Point is facing Ashbrook at the right time seeing as Ashbrook is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
