Baseball Recap: Lawndale Find Success

Lawndale won against Hawthorne last Tuesday with five runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Wednesday. The Lawndale Cardinals didn't even let the Hawthorne Cougars on the board, marking the Lawndale Cardinals' second-straight 5-0 shutout. The Cardinals haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Seth Alex Rodriguez made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he gave up only zero walks, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases. while going 1-for-3. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last four times he's played.

In other pitching news, Lawndale got a great performance from Jacob Lara as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over 4.2 innings pitched.

Rodriguez wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Isaac Velasquez, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Lawndale's victory bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Hawthorne, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Lawndale will face off against Morningside at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hawthorne, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Hawthorne Cougars duke it out with Animo City of Champions Wildcats at 3:15 p.m. on Monday.
