Recap: Midland Bulldogs vs. Odessa Bronchos
The Midland Bulldogs put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their undefeated season alive. They blew past Odessa 59-28 at home. The result was nothing new for Midland, who have now won five contests by 25 points or more so far this season.
Leading Midland to victory were Stroman Bridges and Elijah Mccoy. Bridges rushed for 99 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries, while Mccoy rushed for 195 yards and a touchdown while picking up 9.3 yards per carry. Mccoy is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last seven games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Anthony Kolb, who rushed for 74 yards and a touchdown.
Ivan Carreon and Mikey Cota, Odessa certainly did their beston Friday to try and avoid the loss. Carreon picked up 133 receiving yards and three touchdowns, while Cota threw for 271 yards and four touchdowns. Carreon is on a roll when it comes to receiving touchdowns, as he's now hauled in two or more in the last three games he's played.
Midland's win was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 8-0. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 28 points. As for Odessa, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Midland will face off against Midland Legacy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Midland Legacy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight games -- so hopefully Midland likes a good challenge. As for Odessa, they will head out on the road to face off against Frenship at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Hudson Hutcheson and Cota.
