Basketball Game Preview: Celina Bobcats vs. Van Alstyne Panthers

A feisty cat fight is on tap when the Celina Bobcats challenge the Van Alstyne Panthers at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday... Given that both suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Last Tuesday, Celina ended up a good deal behind Sanger and lost 44-30.

Meanwhile, Van Alstyne was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 44-40 to Sanger. While losing is never fun, the Panthers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 543rd, while the Indians are ranked 270th).

Celina now has a losing record at 11-12. As for Van Alstyne, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 11-17.

Celina took their victory against Van Alstyne in their previous matchup back in December of 2024 by a conclusive 58-34. The rematch might be a little tougher for Celina since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
