Basketball Recap: Asheville School (Independent) Comes Up Short

After flying high against York Prep last Wednesday, Asheville School (Independent) came back down to earth. The Asheville School (Independent) Blues were outmatched by the Christ School Greenies and fell 74-46. The game marked the Blues' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Several Blues players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Heimir Helgason, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine boards. Helgason's evening made it eight games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Deuel, who posted 11 points and five rebounds.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Christ School to victory, but perhaps none more so than Madden Collins, who went 8 of 11 en route to 22 points. Zymicah Wilkins was another key player, going 6 for 12 on his way to 16 points and three steals.

Asheville School (Independent)'s defeat dropped their record down to 10-4. As for Christ School, the win keeps them at an undefeated 16-0.

Asheville School (Independent) wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, an 85-58 victory against Carolina Day on the 21st. As for Christ School, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 73-66 loss against Chambers on the 18th.
