Laurel is 3-0 against East Central since January of 2024 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Laurel Golden Tornadoes will take on the East Central Hornets at 7:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Laurel beat Raymond 37-32. The win was all the more spectacular given the Golden Tornadoes' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi basketball rankings (they are ranked 100th, while the Rangers are ranked 32nd).

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask East Central). They strolled past Poplarville with points to spare last Monday, taking the game 64-50. The victory made it back-to-back wins for East Central.

Laurel pushed their record up to 9-7 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.5 points per game. As for East Central, their win ended a 13-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-10.

Everything came up roses for Laurel against East Central in their previous matchup back in January, as the team secured a 72-42 victory. Does Laurel have another victory up their sleeve, or will East Central turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
