Baseball Recap: Columbia Drops Season-High Score on Troy

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Columbia). They put the hurt on the Troy Flying Horses with a sharp 15-1 win on Wednesday. The Blue Devils have beaten the Flying Horses the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Flying Horses has come to flipping the script.

Joseph Miller looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Andrew Mocerine was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base. Those two hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Jackson Stilson, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

Columbia kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in three consecutive contests.

Columbia's victory bumped their record up to 5-8. As for Troy, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-8.

Coming up, Columbia will take on Guilderland at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. As for Troy, they will head out on the road to challenge Cohoes at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Tigers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Flying Horses' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
