Softball Recap: Mogollon Victorious

Mogollon came out on top against San Manuel on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run second inning. The Mustangs took their game against the Miners 12-8. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 22-10 on Friday.

Riley Mosley and Ava Plantholt did most of the damage at the plate: Mosley went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Plantholt earned four RBI, two runs, and three stolen bases. Bella Hoopes was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Mogollon kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.3 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 10.8.

The victory made it two in a row for Mogollon and bumps their season record up to 2-9. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.0 runs over those games. As for San Manuel, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-8.

Mogollon wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 17-7 victory against Ray on the 11th. As for San Manuel, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 21-11 win against Hayden on the 8th.
