Soccer Recap: Valencia's Higher State Rank on Full Display on Monday

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Santa Ana, Valencia was happy to have turned things around on Monday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Tustin Tillers a 2-0 shutout. Given the Tigers' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 41st, while the Tillers are ranked 910th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Valencia's win bumped their record up to 14-4-3. As for Tustin, their loss was their tenth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-17-1.

Valencia will venture away from home to take on Fullerton at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Tustin, they will welcome Godinez Fundamental at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday.
