Sherwood has gone 9-1 against Newberg recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Bowmen will be playing at home against the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Newberg will be up against a hot Sherwood team: the squad just extended their winning streak to five. The Bowmen really took it to Liberty for the full four quarters, racking up a 41-14 win. The Bowmen might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by 27 points or more this season.
Sherwood found their leader in sophomore Jayden Wallace, who rushed for 69 yards and three scores. The team also got some help courtesy of Kai Boatsman, who threw for 158 yards and a pair of TDs.
Sherwood was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 223 rushing yards. They are a perfect 5-0 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Sherwood's defense and their seven sacks. The heavy lifting was done by Isaac Bean and Levi Klostreich, who racked up five sacks between them. Bean also set a new season-high mark in total tackles with eight.
Meanwhile, Newberg unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 42-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of Glencoe.
Sherwood will need to focus on slowing down Parker Sellner, one of several Newberg players who made an impact when they last played. He threw for 114 yards and four touchdowns. Sellner is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in each of the last three games he's played. Owen Kubin was in the mix as well, providing Newberg with two scores.
Newberg's defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 5-3. As for Sherwood, their victory bumped their record up to 6-2.
Everything came up roses for Sherwood against Newberg when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 53-14 win. In that game, the Bowmen amassed a halftime lead of 32-7, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Friday.
