Volleyball Recap: St. Dominic Comes Up Short in High-Profile Matchup with Cor Jesu Academy

St. Dominic faced Cor Jesu Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Monday. The Crusaders fell just short of the Chargers by a score of 3-2. The Crusaders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Chargers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

St. Dominic started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 21-25, 19-25, 25-17, 25-23, 15-8.

Natalie Frazier paced St. Dominic's offense, picking up 22 kills. Frazier got some help from Charlotte Bland and her 48 assists. Emily Frazier and Addison Burroughs kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with three aces apiece.

Ginnie Normile was the offensive standout of the matchup as she had 11 digs. She has been hot, having posted 11 or more digs the last six times she's played.

St. Dominic has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 22-9-2 record this season. As for Cor Jesu Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 14 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 19-8 record this season.

As of now, neither St. Dominic nor Cor Jesu Academy have any future games scheduled.
