Baseball Game Preview: Roxana Shells vs. Jersey Panthers

The Roxana Shells will square off against the Jersey Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Roxana's pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so Jersey's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

On Thursday, Roxana narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Freeburg 5-4. The Shells haven't had any issues with the Midgets recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Trevor Gihring and Mason Crump did most of the damage at the plate: Gihring went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double, while Crump went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That's the most hits Gihring has posted since back in April. Kael Hester was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Jersey earned a 9-6 victory over Staunton on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.

Roxana's win bumped their record up to 18-7-1. As for Jersey, their victory bumped their record up to 12-13.
