Basketball Game Preview: Pamlico Christian Academy Mariners vs. Bethel Christian Academy Trojans

The Pamlico Christian Academy Mariners will venture away from home to square off against the Bethel Christian Academy Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Bethel Christian Academy took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Pamlico Christian Academy, who comes in off a win.

Pamlico Christian Academy will bounce into Monday's contest after beating Mount Calvary Christian Academy, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. Pamlico Christian Academy came out on top against Mount Calvary Christian Academy by a score of 40-28 on Friday. The win was all the more spectacular given the Mariners' disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 209th, while the Warriors are ranked 98th).

Lily Mathews was her usual excellent self, going 9 of 16 on her way to 25 points in addition to eight rebounds and three steals. That's the most points she has posted since back in November of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Mandy Tyler, who posted five points.

Pamlico Christian Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in 15 consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Bethel Christian Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss dating back to last season. They came up short against Gramercy Christian, falling 54-29. One positive for the Trojans, at least, is that this was the most points they've scored all season.

Pamlico Christian Academy has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. As for Bethel Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-8.

Pamlico Christian Academy came up short against Bethel Christian Academy when the teams last played back in February, falling 34-29. Can Pamlico Christian Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
