Wood River hadn't done well against Canyon Ridge recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Wolverines came out on top against the Riverhawks by a score of 29-17. The 29-point effort marked the Wolverines' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Wood River's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Taylor Heitzman led the charge by dropping a double-double with 12 points and ten boards. Heitzman is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last four games she's played. Tobie Stilling was another key player, putting up four points in addition to ten rebounds and three steals.

Wood River's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 4-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 21.0 points on average over those games. As for Canyon Ridge, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.

Wood River and Canyon Ridge will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Wolverines are set to square off against their familiar foe Filer at 7:30 p.m. on the 17th. Meanwhile, Canyon Ridge will challenge rival Highland at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
