Basketball Game Preview: Anson Bearcats vs. Forest Hills Yellow Jackets

Anson is 0-10 against Forest Hills since February of 2020 but things could change on Tuesday. The Anson Bearcats will be playing at home against the Forest Hills Yellow Jackets at 6:00 p.m.

Anson is headed into Tuesday's matchup looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their fourth straight game on Friday. They lost 65-44 to West Stanly.

Despite the defeat, Anson had strong showings from Za'Kiah Hixson, who almost dropped a double-double with 17 points and nine rebounds, and Alaysia Caraway, who posted eight points in addition to 13 boards and five steals. Anson is 3-1 when Caraway posts five or more steals, but 5-13 otherwise.

Even though they lost, Anson smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in five consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, you can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Forest Hills' strategy against Cuthbertson on Monday. Forest Hills put the hurt on Cuthbertson with a sharp 59-33 victory. The Yellow Jackets have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 16 games by 21 points or more this season.

Forest Hills pushed their record up to 19-3 with the win, which was their 11th straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 29.4 points. As for Anson, their loss dropped their record down to 8-14.

Anson was taken down by Forest Hills 47-10 in their previous matchup back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Forest Hills' Derrianna Mclendon, who went 10 for 13 to rack up 20 points and five steals.
