Basketball Game Preview: Wootton Patriots vs. Bethesda-Chevy Chase Barons

The Wootton Patriots will head out to take on the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Barons at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Wootton is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59 points per game this season.

Last Tuesday, Wootton strolled past Seneca Valley with points to spare, taking the game 65-49.

It was another big night for Chase Mitchell, who went 6 for 11 on his way to 20 points in addition to five assists and five boards. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in rebounds. Sammy Alexandre was another key player, going 7 of 14 en route to 17 points and seven boards.

Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, Bethesda-Chevy Chase's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 72-71 to Whitman. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Friday (58), the Barons still had to take the loss.

Bethesda-Chevy Chase's loss was their first in the region, dropping their region record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 6-4. As for Wootton, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Wootton came up short against Bethesda-Chevy Chase in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, falling 65-56. Can Wootton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
