Baseball Recap: Southern Lee Find Success

While Southern Lee put up some runs on Friday, the same can't be said for Richmond. The Southern Lee Cavaliers came out on top in a nail-biter against the Richmond Raiders, sneaking past 1-0. This was a revenge game for the Cavaliers: when they faced off against the Raiders last Tuesday, they had to take a 7-2 defeat.

The result came thanks to Bryan McCollum's shutout, as he gave up just four hits and racked up nine Ks. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts.

On the hitting side, Southern Lee saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Christian Cox, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Southern Lee's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Richmond, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

When Southern Lee and Richmond next hit the field, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Southern Lee will try to stop South View's four-game winning streak when they meet at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Southern Lee's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Richmond's hitters will have their work cut out for them. Meanwhile, Richmond will take on Myers Park and their three-game winning streak at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday.
