Football Preview: South Iredell Vikings vs. Porter Ridge Pirates        
        
		
                                                         The South Iredell Vikings will head out to  square off against the Porter Ridge Pirates  at 7:00  p.m.  on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication,  both  will really light up the scoreboard.
 South Iredell is headed out to face Porter Ridge after opening their season at home and giving their fans just what they were looking for. South Iredell was the clear victor by  a  35-14 margin over North Iredell on Friday. The  win was some much needed relief for the Vikings as it spelled an end to their six-game losing streak dating back to last season.
  Tyler Johnson was the offensive standout of the  matchup as he threw for 207 yards and three touchdowns, and also rushed for 53 yards on only seven carries.  Brody Hunt was in the mix  too, providing South Iredell with two  touchdowns touchdowns.
 South Iredell didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of  Kaeden Everheat and  D'Keen Glaspy-Mathis.  Shephard Kappel was another major factor on D,  picking up  1.5  sacks, forcing a fumble, and making eight total tackles (2.0 for loss).
 Meanwhile, Porter Ridge had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They claimed a resounding  45-7 victory over Rocky River on the road. Given the Pirates' advantage  in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings  (they are ranked 24th, while the Ravens are ranked 173rd), the result  wasn't entirely unexpected.
 Porter Ridge found their leader in underclassman  Keenan Sullivan, who threw for 106 yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 41 yards and a touchdown.  Rai'Shawn Elmore was  Sullivan's top target, picking up 73 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
 South Iredell took a serious blow against Porter Ridge  in their previous meeting  back in August of 2023, falling  49-3. Thankfully for South Iredell,  Danny Kennedy (who picked up 80 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 78 yards and a touchdown) won't be suiting up this time.
