For the first time this season, Greenwood will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will welcome the Shiloh Christian Saints at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
While Greenwood's win against Har-Ber wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Bulldogs slipped by the Wildcats 43-42 two weeks ago. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Bulldogs' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Arkansas football rankings (they are ranked fourth, while the Wildcats are ranked 35th).
Greenwood had a senior duo take command as Kane Archer rushed for 117 yards and three touchdowns and Champ Davis gained 248 total yards and two touchdowns.
Greenwood's defensive line made their presence known, laying out the QB three times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Jin Sayadeth, Cody Johnson, and Brock Shepard, who each picked up one sack apiece. Sayadeth was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making nine total tackles.
Meanwhile, Shiloh Christian got themselves on the board against Bethany on Friday, but Bethany never followed suit. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Bronchos 72-0. The Saints pushed the score to 63-0 by the end of the third, a deficit the Bronchos had no chance of recovering from.
Greenwood better keep an eye on Cole Creighton. He was instrumental in Shiloh Christian's win, throwing for 296 yards and three TDs while completing 85.7% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Zane Sluyter, who picked up 136 receiving yards and one score.
Shiloh Christian's run defense was locked in: Bethany could only muster 1.8 yards per carry. While three picked up at least four total tackles, Max Eldridge stood above the rest. He rushed for 21 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Shiloh Christian didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 6.5.
Shiloh Christian didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Silas Nantze and Zander Salter. Salter is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last four games he's played dating back to last season. Nantze got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
Shiloh Christian's victory was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 6.5 points on average over those games. As for Greenwood, their victory bumped their record up to 3-0.
Greenwood took their win against Shiloh Christian in their previous matchup back in December of 2024 by a conclusive 61-35 score. Do the Bulldogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Saints turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
