Aztec and Miyamura are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2021, but likely not for long. The Tigers will host the Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Miyamura will be up against a hot Aztec team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. The Tigers' pitcher stepped up to hand Shiprock a 10-0 shutout on Tuesday. The Tigers not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since March 8th.

Kaleb Hales and Hunter Clark did most of the damage at the plate: Hales scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Clark scored a run while going 3-for-3. Those three hits gave Clark a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jadyn Brooks, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
Aztec was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Miyamura, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They blew past Kirtland Central 9-0 on Tuesday. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by six runs or more this season.
Brady Antonio was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Miyamura is 4-2 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 4-7 otherwise. Antonio was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Miyamura let Marshall Livingston and Shane Escajeda run wild. Livingston scored three runs while going 2-for-4, while Escajeda went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. Brayden Ashley was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Aztec's victory bumped their record up to 7-11. As for Miyamura, they moved to 8-9 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak.
Aztec skirted past Miyamura 5-3 in their previous meeting on Thursday. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Patriots have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
