Softball Recap: New Castle Comes Up Short

New Castle lost against Greenfield-Central back in May of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Trojans lost 14-1 to the Cougars. The Trojans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Kattie Mathews made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases, one run, and one double.

New Castle's defeat dropped their record down to 6-5. As for Greenfield-Central, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. New Castle will venture away from home to face off against Lawrence Central at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Trojans are facing the Bears at the right time seeing as the Bears are stuck on a six-game losing streak. As for Greenfield-Central, they are taking a road trip to challenge New Palestine at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
