Softball Game Preview: Central Lancers vs. String Theory

The Central Lancers are taking a road trip to square off against String Theory at 3:15 p.m. on Friday.

Central blew George Washington out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Wednesday George Washington got their revenge. The Lancers fell just short of the Eagles by a score of 5-3. The game marked the Lancers' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Meanwhile, String Theory posted their closest victory since May 10, 2024 on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Nueva Esperanza 4-2.

Annamae Uhl spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on two hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, String Theory saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Genesis Mejia-Rodriquez, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run.

Central's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for String Theory, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-8 record this season.

Central came out on top in a nail-biter against String Theory in their previous meeting back in April of 2018, sneaking past 11-10. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Lancers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
