Basketball Recap: Eastgate Life Academy Takes Down Appling Christian Academy in a Playoff Battle

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Eastgate Life Academy had no problem doing just that on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Appling Christian Academy Eagles, sneaking past 51-48. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Eastgate Life Academy has posted since December 15, 2023.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Eastgate Life Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than GABE MOODY, who went 5-for-11 on his way to 14 points. MOODY is also on a roll when it comes to three-point shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 40% in the last five games he's played. Grayson Mayfield was another key player, dropping a double-double with 11 points and ten boards.

Despite the defeat, Appling Christian Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jaden Drake dropped a double-double with 28 points and ten rebounds. Another player making a difference was Blake Tomlinson, who dropped a double-double with 12 points and 14 boards.

The victory made it two in a row for Eastgate Life Academy and bumps their season record up to 8-13. As for Appling Christian Academy, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which has put a noticeable dent in their 12-8 record this season.

Looking ahead, Eastgate Life Academy won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Philadelphia Christian School at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Appling Christian Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
