Rowe took a three-set defeat the last time they faced off against Vela, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Warriors won by a set and slipped past the Sabercats 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Warriors have posted since August 29th.

It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day Rowe got the one that really mattered. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 14-25, 25-23, 23-25, 15-11.

Lynette Palacios paced Rowe's offense, picking up 19 kills. Palacios got some help from Leana Palacios and her 22 assists. Finally, Rosario Contreras and Mariela Ramirez kept the team grounded on defense, each having blocked four attacks.

When it comes to explaining why Vela lost on Tuesday, don't look at Fernanda Valdez. Despite the final result, she had 30 digs and two aces. Valdez has been hot, having posted 13 or more digs the last seven times she's played.

Rowe is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-13 record this season. As for Vela, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 31-9 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Rowe will face off against rival Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Vela is set to take on their familiar foe Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
