Baseball Game Preview: Littlefield Wildcats vs. Slaton Tigers

The Littlefield Wildcats will challenge the Slaton Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Littlefield's pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so Slaton's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Slaton will be up against a hot Littlefield squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Wildcats never let Friona get on the board and left with an 18-0 victory on Tuesday. The Wildcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 games by six runs or more this season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Slaton, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They skirted past Muleshoe 5-3. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Tigers as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

The team relied heavily on Riley Martinez, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one triple and two RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jabob Luna, who went 1-for-2 with two runs and one triple.

Slaton hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Muleshoe struck out seven times.

Slaton's victory bumped their record up to 5-14-1. As for Littlefield, their win bumped their record up to 17-7.

Everything went Littlefield's way against Slaton in their previous meeting back in March, as Littlefield made off with a 16-5 victory. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
