Preview: Springfield Catholic vs. Marshfield
On Friday Marshfield take on Springfield Catholic at 7:00 PM. It might come down to the wire as the MaxPreps state rankings project a close matchup.
Last week, Marshfield were close but not close enough as they fell 12-14 to Mt. Vernon. Marshfield's loss came about despite a quality game from junior Brennan Espy, who caught passes for 81 yards and 1 touchdown.
Meanwhile, Springfield Catholic simply couldn't be stopped, as they easily beat Hollister 35-0. The success represented a nice turnaround for Springfield Catholic, who in their last game suffered a tough 7-34 defeat.
Springfield Catholic's win lifted them to 2-1 while Marshfield's loss dropped them down to 2-1. The Marshfield defense got after the quarterback against Mt. Vernon to the tune of 4 sacks, so Springfield Catholic's offensive line better have put in some good practice this past week in preparation for the contest.
