Baseball Recap: Sarasota Beats Middleton for Their Sixth Straight Win

Sarasota had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 15-run drubbing they dealt Middleton on Tuesday. Sarasota never let Middleton get on the board and left with a 15-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Sailors, who have now won six contests by six runs or more so far this season.

Jack Mohrmann looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits.

On the hitting side, Patrick Drymon was incredible, scoring a run and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Mark Metcalf, who scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Sarasota was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .389. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Middleton only posted a batting average of .214.

The victory (which was Sarasota's sixth in a row) raised their record to 11-3-1. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.0 runs over those games. As for Middleton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-11.

Sarasota has already played their next game, a 6-4 victory against Don Bosco Prep on the 19th. As for Middleton, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 14-0 loss against Lakewood Ranch on the 19th.
