Softball Recap: Corner Has No Trouble Against Oak Grove

Corner won the last time they faced Oak Grove and things went their way on Thursday too. The Yellow Jackets blew past the Tigers 7-1. The victory was some much needed relief for the Yellow Jackets as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Lilly Perkins spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Anna Kate Smith was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Adalyn Owens, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Corner hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in six consecutive games.

Corner's win bumped their record up to 12-20-1. As for Oak Grove, their loss ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 21-17.

Coming up, Corner will welcome Sumiton Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Oak Grove, they will take on Decatur Heritage Christian Academy at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
