Softball Game Preview: Midland Trail Patriots vs. Sherman Tide

Midland Trail is 0-5 against Sherman since March of 2017 but things could change on Tuesday. The Patriots will be playing at home against the Tide at 5:30 p.m. Midland Trail is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.6 runs per game this season.

Sherman will be up against a hot Midland Trail squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Patriots put the hurt on James Monroe with a sharp 11-5 win on Friday. Considering the Patriots have won five games by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Madison Rader made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 11 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with one RBI.

In other batting news, Nevaeh Hall was incredible, going 3-for-5 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Abby Parcell, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Midland Trail kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as James Monroe only managed ten hits.

Meanwhile, Sherman beat Tug Valley 6-3 on Saturday.

Sherman has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.1 runs over those games. As for Midland Trail, their win bumped their record up to 7-9.
