West Washington is 8-2 against Orleans since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Senators will head out to square off against the Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Orleans will be up against a hot West Washington team: the squad just extended their winning streak to nine. The Senators never let South Central get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory on Monday.
Emery Haub and Macy Lowery made a splash no matter where they played. Throwing, Haub tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Lowery tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Haub has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. At bat, Haub went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Lowery went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most runs Haub has posted since back in May of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Meredith Deaton, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Lilly Thompson, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Orleans came out on top against Northeast Dubois on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run fourth inning. The Bulldogs were the clear victors by an 11-2 margin over the Jeeps. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bulldogs.
Izzie Rutherford spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on seven hits.
On the hitting side, Ava Cooper was incredible, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Cambree Cline, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs.
Orleans pushed their record up to 9-1 with the win, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they've averaged 7.8 runs this season. As for West Washington, their record is now 9-0.
Everything went West Washington's way against Orleans when the teams last played back in April of 2024, as West Washington made off with a 10-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Senators since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
