Softball Recap: Lakeland Takes a Loss

Lakeland extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 3-8 in the process. They lost 12-2 to the Great Bridge Wildcats. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Cavaliers of the 3-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

As for Great Bridge, they pushed their record up to 9-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by seven runs or more this season.

For Great Bridge's part, the team relied heavily on Hannah Ferrell, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two triples, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI Ferrell has posted since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was LB Scott, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lakeland will host Kecoughtan at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Cavaliers will need to watch out since the Warriors have now posted at least ten runs in their last six contests. As for Great Bridge, they will take on Kempsville at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. The Chiefs will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each game than the last.
