Football Recap: Manzanola Bobcats vs. Antonito Trojans
Manzanola had to kick off their season on the road on Friday, but they showed no ill effects. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Antonito Trojans 61-19 on the road. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Bobcats just coasted through the last quarter.
Manzanola wouldn't let Antonito keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. Jesse James was the leader in that area as all came courtesy of his dominant performance. He also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, forcing two fumbles and making two total tackles which he returned for a touchdown.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Manzanola was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 232 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Antonito only rushed for 99.
Dylan Gray and Lucas Cordova certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Gray rushed for 59 yards and a touchdown, while Cordova picked up 86 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Manzanola will venture away from home to take on Primero at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Antonito, they are taking a road trip to square off against Bethune at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Antonito is looking for their season?s first victory.
