Basketball Game Preview: Waverly Warriors vs. East Lansing Trojans

Waverly hasn't had much luck against East Lansing recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Waverly Warriors will square off against the East Lansing Trojans at 7:00 p.m. Waverly knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 14 games -- so hopefully East Lansing likes a good challenge.

Waverly saw some tournament action on Wednesday. They took down Grand Ledge 73-56. The win continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Comets: they've now won nine in a row.

Meanwhile, East Lansing had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They blew past DeWitt 57-33 on Wednesday. The Trojans have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 20 points or more this season.

East Lansing's victory was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 22-1. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.6 points over those games. As for Waverly, their win bumped their record up to 20-3.

Waverly couldn't quite finish off East Lansing in their previous meeting on February 7th and fell 62-60. Can Waverly avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
