Preview: Mountain View Bruins vs. Provo Bulldogs
The Mountain View Bruins will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Provo Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Mountain View's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last four contests.
Even though Payson scored an imposing 55 points on Tuesday, Mountain View still came out on top. Mountain View narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Payson 58-55.
Mountain View got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Bryce Mella out in front who scored 19 points. Mella has been hot recently, having posted 19 or more points the last three times he's played. Simeon Suguturaga was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with seven rebounds and six assists.
Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Provo's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They fell 56-44 to Layton Christian Academy.
Mountain View's win bumped their record up to 14-8. As for Provo, their loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-8.
Mountain View was dealt a bruising 67-37 loss at the hands of Provo when the teams last played back in January. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Provo's Jason Carter, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and ten rebounds. Now that Mountain View knows the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
