Baseball Recap: Licking Heights Takes a Loss

Licking Heights extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping their season record down to 3-16 in the process. They came up short against the Watkins Memorial Warriors, falling 12-5. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Warriors this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 5-2 back in April.

Maxim Fink made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in two of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

As for Watkins Memorial, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-8 record this season. The victory made it back-to-back wins for they.

On Watkins Memorial's side, Bradley Vincent made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off six hits. Vincent has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one double. That double was his first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dylan Gray, who went 3-for-4 with three doubles, four RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for Watkins Memorial: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 6-7 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Vincent, who got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two runs.
