Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Fredericksburg V). Everything went their way against the James River HomeSchool Eagles on Thursday as they made off with an 18-6 victory. Winning may never get old, but the Victory sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Steven Reckard made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Reckard was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Matthew Durney and Luke Jany did most of the damage at the plate: Durney went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI, while Jany got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Jany has become a key player for Fredericksburg V: the team is 4-0-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 1-2-1 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Ryan DeWald, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Fredericksburg V kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in four consecutive games.

Fredericksburg V's win bumped their record up to 5-2-2.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Fredericksburg V will face off against Fairfax Baptist Temple Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for James River HomeSchool, they will challenge Blue Ridge at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Jays have averaged an impressive 9.8 runs per game this season.
