Basketball Recap: Jenna Schilling Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Bishop Rosecrans

Millersport hadn't done well against Bishop Rosecrans recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Millersport Lakers skirted past the Bishop Rosecrans Bishops 47-44. This was a revenge game for the Lakers: when they faced off against the Bishops back in November of 2024, they had to take a 39-34 loss.

Millersport's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jenna Schilling, who posted ten points in addition to eight boards and five steals. Schilling is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lilly Atkinson, who put up 16 points and eight rebounds.

Millersport smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in ten consecutive games.

Millersport has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a massive bump to their 3-7 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.8 points per game. As for Bishop Rosecrans, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.

Millersport wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 67-31 defeat against Maysville on the 4th. As for Bishop Rosecrans, they will face off against Wellington School at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
