Football Game Preview: Lackawanna Trail Lions vs. Belmont Charter Tigers

The Lackawanna Trail Lions will challenge the Belmont Charter Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lackawanna Trail knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 31 points or more in their past nine games -- so hopefully Belmont Charter likes a good challenge.

Lackawanna Trail is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They walked away with a 31-20 victory over Line Mountain.

Lackawanna Trail can attribute much of their success to Isaac Ryon, who rushed for 145 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.1 yards per carry, and Tyler Jervis, who rushed for 75 yards and one TD on only ten carries. Those 75 rushing yards gave Jervis a new career-high.

Lackawanna Trail didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Jervis and Ryon. Ryon has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last ten times he's played. Jervis got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Belmont Charter). They strolled past York Catholic with points to spare on Saturday, taking the game 36-20. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Tigers.

Belmont Charter's win bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Lackawanna Trail, their victory bumped their record up to 12-1.
