Baseball Recap: Borrego Springs Victorious

Borrego Springs hadn't beaten Mountain Empire on the road since May 23, 2016 but that history sure didn't bother them on Tuesday. The Borrego Springs Rams walked away with an 11-7 victory over the Mountain Empire Redhawks. For the Rams, this counts as revenge for the 1-0 win the Redhawks walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2019.

Joey Rocha made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. Rocha was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-4. Rocha is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least two every time he's taken the field this season.

In other batting news, Chris Alcaraz was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April of 2024. AB Arambula was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing Three bases. while going 2-for-3.

Borrego Springs always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .541. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mountain Empire only posted an OBP of .344.

Borrego Springs now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Mountain Empire, their defeat was their first of the season and also makes their record 2-1.

Borrego Springs will have a chance to go back-to-back against Mountain Empire: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
