Basketball Recap: Carencro Takes a Loss

Carencro saw some tournament action on Friday. They took a 56-52 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Lake Charles College Prep Trailblazers. While losing is never fun, the Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 165th, while the Trailblazers are ranked 12th).

Lake Charles College Prep's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaiven Matthews, who posted 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Juriah Matthews, who had 12 points.

Carencro has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-15 record this season. As for Lake Charles College Prep, their win bumped their record up to 14-3.

Carencro will take on Teurlings Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Lake Charles College Prep, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 58-54 defeat against Alexandria on the 11th.
