Baseball Recap: Coudersport Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Coudersport dropped their record down to 7-3 on Saturday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins on the road. They lost 18-3 to the Wellsboro Hornets. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Falcons of the 12-4 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Coudersport saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Bradley Stilson, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one run.

As for Wellsboro, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-7. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

On Wellsboro's side, Gabe Sprouse made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits. Sprouse has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one RBI. Wellsboro is undefeated when Sprouse posts two or more runs, but 0-7 otherwise.

In other batting news, Marek Mascho was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. He is becoming a predictor of Wellsboro's success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is undefeated (and 2-7 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Alec Magli, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.

Looking ahead, Coudersport will face off against Smethport at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Wellsboro, they will venture away from home to take on Athens at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Hornets' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 8.6 runs per game this season.
