Softball Game Preview: Pecos Panthers vs. Clayton Yellowjackets

Pecos is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Tuesday. They will be playing in front of their home fans against the Clayton Yellowjackets at 3:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Pecos took a 11-run defeat the last time they faced off against McCurdy, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. Pecos narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past McCurdy 4-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Panthers have posted against the Bobcats since April 22, 2022.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Clayton). They put the hurt on Logan with a sharp 24-4 victory on Friday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Yellowjackets.

Pecos' first win this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Clayton, the victory got them back to even at 2-2.

Everything went Pecos' way against Clayton in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, as Pecos made off with a 21-6 win. Will Pecos repeat their success, or does Clayton has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
