Softball Recap: Nyack Red Hawks vs. Ardsley Panthers

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Nyack had no problem doing just that on Saturday. They beat the Ardsley Panthers by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 3-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for Nyack.

Gianna Longo made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and only two hits while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. Longo has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't pitched less than seven innings in four consecutive pitching appearances. Longo was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Longo wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Yelina Arias, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Nyack has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season. As for Ardsley, their loss dropped their record down to 15-6.

Nyack will head out on the road to challenge Pearl River at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Pearl River's pitching crew has only allowed three runs per game this season, so Nyack's hitters will have their work cut out for them. Ardsley does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
