Baseball Recap: Thursday's Victory Is Ashwaubenon's Fourth in Last Five Outings

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Ashwaubenon ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over the Pulaski Red Raiders. Surprisingly, this marked the Jaguars' sixth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

Ian Aoki made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has become a key player for Ashwaubenon: the team is 3-1 when he allows at most one hit, but 2-6 otherwise. Aoki was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Aoki wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Moxson Kernz, who went 2-for-5 with one run and one RBI. Those two hits gave Kernz a new career-high. Zak Bellile also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Ashwaubenon is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Pulaski, their record is now 10-5.

Ashwaubenon wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 2-1 defeat against De Pere on the 10th. As for Pulaski, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 6-3 loss against Green Bay Preble on the 10th.
