Basketball Recap: Marshfield Comes Up Short

Marshfield lost to Eau Claire Memorial back in March of 2025 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The Tigers were outmatched by the Old Abes and fell 76-29. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Wisconsin basketball rankings (they are ranked 283rd, while the Old Abes are ranked 26th).

When it comes to explaining why Marshfield lost, don't look at Lily Adler. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double with 13 points and 12 boards. Adler is becoming a predictor of the Tigers' success: when she posts at least ten rebounds the team is 3-1 (and 1-11 when she doesn't). Talia Soskos also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Marshfield has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-12 record this season. As for Eau Claire Memorial, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 10-3.

Coming up, Marshfield will take on Wausau East at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. The Tigers will be up against the Lumberjacks' rather soft defense (which has allowed 61 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Eau Claire Memorial, they will square off against Chippewa Falls at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
