Basketball Game Preview: Westland Cougars vs. Westerville North Warriors

The Westland Cougars and the Westerville North Warriors will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.

Westland will bounce into Friday's game after beating Dublin Scioto, who they had gone 0-5 against in their five prior meetings. Westland walked away with a 75-63 win over Dublin Scioto on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cougars.

Westland found their leader in sophomore Breaker Heller Jr., who dropped a triple-double on 21 points, 11 rebounds, and ten assists. With that strong performance, Heller Jr. is now averaging an impressive 15.4 points per game. Another player making a difference was Phoenix Funderburke, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine boards.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Westerville North). They simply couldn't be stopped on Tuesday as they easily beat Westerville South 87-55. Winning may never get old, but the Warriors sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Westland's victory bumped their record up to 2-3. As for Westerville North, their win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-2.
