Basketball Recap: Mandarin Comes Up Short

If Mandarin was feeling good fresh off their 73-23 takedown of Wolfson last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Mandarin Mustangs were dealt a 77-35 loss at the hands of the Bolles Bulldogs on Wednesday. The Mustangs have struggled against the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the defeat, Mandarin saw an underclassman step up: freshman Keeley Mosley went 6 of 15 en route to 14 points. Another player making a difference was Reese Holman, who posted five points in addition to six rebounds and three steals.

It was another big night for Abby Knauff, who went 10 for 14 on her way to 25 points along with six boards and four steals for Bolles. Those 25 points gave Knauff a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Terrell McCoy, who went 8 of 11 en route to 17 points and six rebounds.

Mandarin's loss dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Bolles, the victory was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-5.

Mandarin won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Beachside at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Beachside is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54 points per game this season. Bolles does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
