Football Recap: Carlsbad Continues Road Dominance on Friday + How To Watch

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Carlsbad had no problem doing just that on Friday. They secured a 27-23 W over the La Costa Canyon Mavericks. This was a revenge game for the Lancers: when they faced off against the Mavericks back in October, they had to take a 50-22 defeat.

Kai Brown continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 191 yards and two TDs while picking up 7.3 yards per carry, and also picking up 33 receiving yards. His rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his sixth straight game with at least 120 rushing yards.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Carlsbad was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 276 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as La Costa Canyon only rushed for 76.

La Costa Canyon lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Coby Herman, who picked up 110 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns, and also rushed for 66 yards. His longest reception was for an incredible 76 yards. Quinn Roth was another key player, throwing for 186 yards and three TDs on only 15 passes.

Carlsbad pushed their record up to 10-1 with the win, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. Those road victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 31.9 points over those games. As for La Costa Canyon, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-2.

Carlsbad will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Cathedral Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on the 25th. La Costa Canyon does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
