Basketball Recap: Victory Baptist Academy Takes a Loss

After flying high against Cross Lanes Christian last Thursday, Victory Baptist Academy came back down to earth. The Victory Baptist Academy Saints took a blow against the Calvary Baptist Academy Patriots on Monday, falling 71-44. The Saints were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Patriots apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Bryson Childers was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 29 points and 11 boards for Calvary Baptist Academy. Childers has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last five times he's played. Caleb Skeens was another key player, dropping a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds.

Victory Baptist Academy moved to 5-2 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Calvary Baptist Academy, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-0.

Victory Baptist Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 63-33 victory against Elk Valley Christian on the 17th. Calvary Baptist Academy will take on Poca in a holiday battle at at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Calvary Baptist Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past six games -- so hopefully Poca likes a good challenge.
